The Role of an Academic Representative

Serving as an Academic Representative during the 2022-2024 MSc in Computing course was one of the most rewarding experiences of my academic journey. This role is far more than a title; it is a vital bridge between the student body and the faculty. As representatives, we are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that the learning environment remains equitable, transparent, and conducive to success for all students.

Advocacy in Action: A Practical Example

One of the most defining moments of my tenure occurred during a particularly challenging period in the semester. The module on the Semantic Web proved to be intellectually demanding, and when combined with the heavy workload from concurrent modules, many students reached a breaking point. The pressure of balancing complex technical assignments across multiple subjects meant that many of my peers were struggling to meet the original submission deadline.
